Description
Charcoal barbecue, despite taking longer, is still very popular, due to the "authentic" barbecue flavor.
However, the coal itself acts only as fuel, and does not contribute a distinctive flavor.
A steak grilled on a good gas grill is just as good as one grilled on a charcoal grill, and no one has ever been found who can tell the difference with certainty.
What really brings out the smoky flavor of barbecue is the use of wood.
But be careful if you have a charcoal barbecue with a lid, because the flames from the wood can damage the materials.
It is best to throw some pieces of wood on top of the embers, in order to give it flavor.
And can you smoke on a gas barbecue? Yes, it can!
Simply get a smoker box, preferably made of steel, and choose the right wood chips.
And not all wood is suitable for smoking.
First, avoid using recycled wood, which may contain chemicals. Second, avoid resinous woods, such as pine or cypress.
These wood chips are completely natural, coming from the beech tree. It's a rather soft wood, so its aromas are mild.
It is suitable for smoking a wide variety of foods, from pork, lamb and poultry to vegetables and fish.
